Hydrol is manufactured and marketed by Specpharm Holdings (Pty) Ltd. Specpharm Holdings (Pty) Ltd is a South African based pharmaceutical company that was established in April 2007 when the Janssen- Cilag manufacturing facility was sold to a consortium of investors which included a 30% black empowerment partner. The establishment of the company which included a contract for Specpharm to manufacture Janssen Cilag products combines the manufacturing capability of the Midrand plant with the existing pharmaceutical businesses of Specpharm (Pty) Ltd and the Westbury group. This has created a fully empowered pharmaceutical organization with a full range of capabilities from manufacturing through to sales and marketing.
