Dr Eugene Lottering

Eugene Lottering succeeded Brian Lane as MD in September 2008. Prior to joining Specpharm Holdings he led the Innovation Fund, with investments nationally in excess of R900 Million, which specialized in science, engineering and technology based innovations. The diverse project portfolio included Information and Communication Technology, minerals beneficiation, biotechnology, medical and pharmaceutical products. The most notable example of an investment made is the first South African electric car, the Joule, launched in Paris in October 2008. He has successfully established several national programmes, which now form the foundation of the recently established Technology Innovation Agency of South Africa. He has 8 years experience in the successful creation of new ventures and has enjoyed numerous leadership roles in the management of research, technology and innovation.

His initial qualification was in medical microbiology and immunology, followed by a business qualification from the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland.
